Frequently Asked Questions
Program Preparation
Q. How will the ISQ results be used?
A: They are your property and will not be shown to anyone else except on your initiative.
Q: Can the ISQ be anonymous?
A: No. It is designed for direct personal feedback. The results will not be shown to anyone else except on your initiative. Let’s talk about how anonymity would help you (Bridging).
Q: Can I give this to family and friends in non-work related situations?
A: By all means. It will give you a more complete picture of your range of Styles. However, friends and family are extras and should not be substitutes for critical influence targets in the organization.
Q: I do not have time for this. Do I have to complete it before the program?
A: Yes. The Program begins before you get there. It actually takes very little time to get started. Send out the forms. You may collate the data and complete Part 2 any time before the program begins. Is there any way I can help you get the job started (Bridging)?
Q: I’m new to the organization and no one has really worked with me yet. What do I do?
A: Ask family and friends or work associates from your former job to fill it out.
Q: I am in the process of filling out the ISQ and have a question. What is the difference between the situations in Step 1 (Personal Influence Situations) and Step 2 (Situation Analysis Form 1, Productive)? Am I to use 2 examples from Step 1, are they to be different, or does it matter?
A: The purpose of Step 1 is to get you thinking about a variety of influence situations and your effectiveness in those situations. In Step 2 you go into more detail in analyzing two situations; one productive and one less productive. You then fill out questionnaires on the people involved in these situations and ask them for feedback. As you go through it, the process guides you to analyze in more detail. You can use the same situations or different ones in each of the steps. It is up to you.
